Foundation Stone for Mammalian Facility

Foundation stone of Gennova’s next generation multi-product mammalian bio-manufacturing facility was laid by Professor Govindarajan Padmanaban, former director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. This facility is named after Gennova’s former board member Late Professor Krishna Kumar Tewari, who inspired generation of scientist towards excellence.

Professor Tewari was the founding director of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB)’s Indian unit. Professor Tewari held a faculty appointment in the School of Bioscience at the University of Irvine, USA where he served as Chair of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from 1979 until 1994. Apart from being an honored scientist he was a man with a vision for science, an excellent human being and a caring mentor.

This facility is supported under National Biopharma Mission (NBM) of the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.

The foundation stone was inaugurated by Padmabhushan Prof. G. Padmanabhan in presence of Mr. Satish Mehta.

Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. participated in Global BIO India, 2019 held in New Delhi where Gennova’s website was launched by Honourable Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan in presence of Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Mr. Ranjit Jabbi, Director – Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) among other dignitaries.

During a 3-day event Gennova was awarded the ‘DBT-Biotech Product, Process Development and Commercialization award 2019 (under Organization category)’ for development of Tenectase, a 3rd generation thrombolytic glycoprotein for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) by the Honourable Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce and Industry – Shri Piyush Goyal.

Gennova has the state of the art Research and Development (R&D) facility – ‘Gennova Vaccine Formulation Centre and Research Laboratory’ which is recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) with lab space of over 44,000 sq. ft..

It was inaugurated on 31st January, 2012 by Padma Bhushan (late) Dr. M.K. Bhan, then Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

The inauguration of ‘Gennova Vaccine Formulation Centre and Research Laboratory’  was featured in the Nature, with objective to strengthening Industry and Academia partnership in vaccine and adjuvant development.

Gennova expands its R&D to a new building – the Vaccine Formulation Centre (VFC) spread over 40,000 sq. ft. (first and second floor) inclusive of a GMP formulation, fill and finish facility for vaccine adjuvants and biologics.
